Who is Sara Fazila?
Sara Fazilat is an actress, producer,screenwriter and director. She studied acting in London (RADA and GUILDHALL) and film making at the DFFB as well as at the Columbia University in New York. In 2017 she was selected for Berlinale Talents.
On television, Sara Fazilat has appeared in "Tatort," "Die Füchsin" and the streaming series hits "Check Check" and "Counterpart" alongside J.K. Simmons.In the cinema, she was most recently convincing in Michael Bully Herbig's 1000 ZEILEN as well as in the German Film Award-winning film and Cannes winner HOLY SPIDER by Ali Abbasi.Her DFFB graduation film NICO, in which she served as producer, lead actress and co-writer, traveled the world and received various awards. She received a nomination at the 2022 German Film Awards for her performance and also received the Max Ophüls Award, the Bavarian Film Award and, as producer, the NO FEAR Award at FIRST STEPS. Sara Fazilat is also very active in film politics and was on the board of Pro Quote Film (Organisaition for Gender Equality and Diversity 50:50).2022 she was invited to the Rotterdam Lab and the Cannes Producers Network. In the same year, she was part of the Berlinale jury and was selected by German Films for the FACE to FACE campaign as one of seven "Talents to watch".
Her Film NICO was nominated for the German Academy Award 2022 and was among 9 Films shortlisted from German Films for the Oscar Entry. 2022 HOLY SPIDER was selected for the Competition of the Cannes Filmfestival and was awarded there. Denmark selected Holy Spider as their Oscar Entry 2023 and later the Film got shortlisted by the Academy. In the same year Holy Spider received 11 Robert Awards at the Danish Film Academy Awards.
2022 Sara was Senior Advisor, Speaker and did Curatorial work at Harvard University for the German
American Conference. Alongside Edward Berger, Roman Paul, Anne Leppin and Florian Graf she was in the Selection Committee of the Berlinale together with the German Ministry for culture and media (Claudia Roth) they were searching for the New Director of the Berlinale and appointed Tricia Tuttle.
2023 she was an Artist in Residency in Paris at the Cité International des arts.

As a writer she is working on her next Feature Film ARIER and the Series UNDERDOGS
